INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) released Friday the bracket for the 2025 GLVC Wrestling Championship Tournament. Regular Season Champion and reigning tri-champion Upper Iowa University earned the No. 1 overall seed, while one of last year’s tri-champions McKendree University gleaned the second seed. The top two seeds both earn a first round bye. The tournament is being held in Lebanon, Ill., at the Melvin Price Convocation Center on the campus of McKendree University. The tournament is a one day event on Sunday February 16.
The six-team tournament is seeded 1-6 based on Conference winning percentage with ties broken pursuant to GLVC Handbook Section 1 and 16. University of Indianapolis was tabbed as the 3-seed with the final reigning tri-champion Maryville University claiming the 4-seed. Drury University earning the 5-seed and Quincy University rounded out the field as the 6-seed.
Match 1: #4 Maryville vs. #5 Drury | 10:00 AM CT
- Maryville went 4-8 overall and 3-2 in GLVC action during the regular season.
- Maryville finished in a three-way tie for the No. 2 seed with McKendree and Indianapolis.
- The first tiebreaker was head-to-head results, which all three teams went 1-1 versus each other.
- The second tiebreaker was fewest points allowed in Conference duals: McKendree had the least (67), UIndy finished with 86, and Maryville allowed 92.
- Drury went 5-5 overall and 1-3 in GLVC action during the regular season.
- The Panthers face Upper Iowa on Feb. 9 to conclude the regular season.
- The Saints beat the Panthers, 33-13, in St. Louis on Dec. 8.
Match 2: #3 Indianapolis vs. #6 Quincy | 10:00 AM CT
- Indianapolis went 4-6 overall and 3-2 in GLVC action during the regular season.
- Indianapolis finished in a three-way tie for the No. 2 seed with McKendree and Maryville.
- The first tiebreaker was head-to-head results, which all three teams went 1-1 versus each other.
- The second tiebreaker was fewest points allowed in Conference duals: McKendree had the least (67), UIndy finished with 86, and Maryville allowed 92.
- Quincy went 6-6 overall and 0-5 in GLVC action during the regular season.
- The Greyhounds defeated the Hawks 41-3 on Feb. 1 in Quincy.
Match 3: #1 Upper Iowa vs. Winner of Match #1 | 11:30 AM CT
- Upper Iowa went 11-4 overall and 4-0 in GLVC action during the regular season.
- The Peacocks face Drury on Feb. 9 to conclude the regular season.
- Upper Iowa defeated Maryville 24-13 on Jan. 31 in Fayette.
Match 4: #2 McKendree vs. Winner of Match #2 | 11:30 AM CT
- McKendree went 7-6 overall and 3-2 in GLVC action during the regular season.
- McKendree finished in a three-way tie for the No. 2 seed with Indianapolis and Maryville.
- The first tiebreaker was head-to-head results, which all three teams went 1-1 versus each other.
- The second tiebreaker was fewest points allowed in Conference duals: McKendree had the least (67), UIndy finished with 86, and Maryville allowed 92.
- McKendree defeated Indianapolis 30-11 on Dec. 6 in Indianapolis and Quincy 33-8 on Feb. 5 in Lebanon.
The losers of Match #1 and Match #2 will face off in the Fifth Place Match at 1:00 PM CT and the losers of Match #3 and Match #4 will face of in the Third Place Match at 1:00 PM CT. The champions will be crowned between the winners of Match #3 and Match #4 as they take center stage at 2:30 PM CT for the title of 2025 GLVC Wrestling Champion.
