Maryville Crowned GLVC Women’s Lacrosse Victors for First Time

ST. LOUIS – The fifth-ranked and No. 1 Maryville University women’s lacrosse team outlasted the seventh-ranked and second-seeded University of Indianapolis on Sunday, defeating the Greyhounds to earn its first-ever Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Championship at Maryville Lacrosse Field, 10-9.
 
Maryville joins UIndy as the only institutions to win a league title in the sport, as the Greyhounds had won the first four trophies since sponsorship started in 2021.

  • MU started the scoring via GLVC Attacker of the Year Helen Bae, but UINDY quickly responded with three-straight goals in the next two minutes.
  • After MU replied with one score, UINDY tallied two more goals to make the game 5-2 at the 9:58 mark in the second period.
  • MU proceeded to catch fire with five goals in less than three minutes to lead 7-5 going into the half.
  • UINDY quickly tied the game at seven in the first few minutes of the third quarter, before MU fought back with a pair of goals itself to regain the advantage.
  • UINDY once again tied the game in the fourth stanza on goals from Olivia Bladon and Kendall Conrad.
  • Bae recorded the game winner at the 4:19 mark and MU’s defense held strong the rest of the way to secure the victory.
  • MU had four players tally multiple goals, including Bae, Natalie Tomljenovic, Kylie Pettus, and Chloe Elliott.
  • GLVC Midfielder of the Year, Olivia Bladon, led the UINDY scoring attack with a hat trick.
  • MU caused 13 turnovers defensively, with Devyn Dimowitz contributing a team-high four.

The Saints, the GLVC automatic qualifier, now await the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday, May 4 at 8:30 p.m. ET to determine their regional fate. The 2025 NCAA Division II Championship will be played May 22-24 at Kerr Stadium in Salem, Virginia, following the preliminary rounds on May 8-10 and quarterfinals on May 17 at campus sites.
